Michael McIntyre gets a Xmas Day roadshow

Festive special announced

Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow has landed a coveted place in the BBC One Christmas Day schedules.

A one-off festive special is to be filmed to go out in the sought-after slot, underlining how stand-up has become an integral part of mainstream entertainment.

McIntyre said: 'It's such an honour for the show to be on Christmas Day and to be introducing some of the biggest names in comedy to entertain a turkey-filled nation slumped on their sofas.'

BBC entertainment commissioner Mark Linsey added: 'Who better to bring some Christmas cheer to BBC One viewers than Michael. He is such a favourite with our audiences and this show is bound to be a real festive treat.'

The line-up of acts on the festive special has not yet been announced.

The second series of the show, made by Open Mike Production, is currently airing on BBC One on Saturday nights
