Here comes The Sun

Newspaper to offer comedy clubs a boost

Comedy clubs across the country could be set for an audience boost next week as The Sun launches a 2-for-1ticket offer.

The paper has the largest circulation in Britain, selling 2.8million copies a day, so a promotion highlighting grassroots live comedy as a night out could have a major impact on the industry.

While large chains such as Jongleurs or Highlight have previously run such promotions, this one also incorporates independent clubs such as Crack Comedy, The Frog And Bucket and the 99 Club. In all, almost 100 venues are taking part.

The offer is being in conjunction with digital TV channel Dave, and readers must collect three of the tokens printed in the newspaper every day from Saturday to next Friday.
