Larry King turns stand-up

Comedy tour for talk show icon

He’s better known for interviewing political heavyweights than one-line zingers… but US talk show icon Larry King is to go on a comedy tour.

The 77-year-old has announced a seven-date US tour, Larry King: Stand Up, offering an ‘hilarious and insightful look’ at his life.

King left his CNN talk show in December after 25 years, handing over to talent show judge Piers Morgan.

The tour starts on April 14 in Connecticut and ends in Las Vegas on June 11.

Producers Base Entertainment said: ‘Larry King's style and wit will give audiences an evening to remember.’

Ahead of his retirement from CNN last year, King told New York magazine: ‘I’m funny. I’m going to do stand-up. That’s what I love.’

And he performed a comic routine when he appeared on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show back in December.

King – known for a soft interviewing technique that appeals to big-name subjects – has been married eight times, to seven women.
