Life's a beach

Vegas's new radio sitcom

Johnny Vegas is to star in a new Radio 4 series about two men who live on a beach.

Shed Town has been written by comedy stalwart Kevin Eldon along with Tony Pitts, who played Archie Brooks in Emmerdale Farm for a decade.

The four-part comedy revolves around two men who have been made redundant, so on their last works outing decide not to go back, and instead set up a new life on the beach. One of them falls in love with a girl who works in an ice cream van.

Vegas last week recorded some of the series on location in Robin Hood's Bay in North Yorkshire, which he regularly visits on holiday.

He borrowed two sheds from locals for the taping, and agreed to become president of amateur football club Fylingdales, after recording at their pitch.

The series is expected to air next spring.
