30 Rock goes live

...and cast will have to do it twice

America’s NBC network is to broadcast a live edition of its acclaimed sitcom 30 Rock.

But the time difference between the States’ two coasts means staff and crew will have to do the same show twice.

‘We’ve had great success with live episodes in the past, both in a creative sense and in the ratings’ said NBC executive Angelea Bromstad.

‘I can’t imagine a series more suited to do an incredible live episode, thanks to its many cast, writers and producers, who hail from TV’s most renowned live series, Saturday Night Live.’

Tina Fey’s comedy – based behind the scenes in an SNL-type show - will air live from studio 8H at New York’s Rockefeller Center at 8.30pm on October 14 for the East Coast. They will then do it all again three hours later for the West Coast.

previously aired a live version of ER in 1997, to great success.
