ITV4 to televise stand-up hunt

FHM content offers £10k prize

FHM magazine’s competition for new stand-ups is to be made into a full six-part ITV4 series.

The final of this year’s competition, won by Marlon Davis, was aired as a pilot on the digital channel – but the next series will follow all five regional heats, too.

Entrants will be invited to upload routines onto the magazine’s website later this year for a chance to win the £10,000 first prize – as big as the main Foster’s Edinburgh Comedy Award.

This year’s competition was hosted by Ed Byrne, while the TV broadcast featured interviews with Dara O’Briain, Jason Manford and John Bishop sharing their stand-up tips. However, no announcement has yet been made about the new series’s host.

The hour-long shows will be made by Gavin & Stacey and Ideal producers Baby Cow and Signal TV, which specialises in corporate branded programmes.
