Apple Cart upset

London festival cancelled

An outdoor festival promising an impressive line-up of comedy talent has been cancelled following problems with the venue.

The Apple Cart Festival had been due to take place in Shoreditch Park, East London, on July 25 with comedians including Stewart Lee, Kevin Eldon, Shappi Khorsandi and John Richardson.

However, organisers have now pulled the plug, citing difficulties in ensuring the site could be made suitable for a family event.

The event would also have featured music from Saint Etienne – their only UK gig of the year – Edwyn Collins and Lambchop as well as other spoken word events.

Organisers say the festival will go ahead next year in Victoria Park, Hackney.
