A topical storm

C4 reveals its new stand-up show

Channel 4 has confirmed its new late-night topical stand-up show, Stand Up For The Week.

The six-part series, previously known as Live At Koko, starts on June 25 and will be hosted by Patrick Kielty.

It will also feature a regular team of stand-ups: Rich Hall, Jack Whitehall, Andi Osho and Kevin Bridges as well as comedy character sketches by Ricky Grover.

Channel 4 say: ‘This new show will be intelligent, spiky and above all, outrageously alternative.’

Head of entertainment Justin Gorman said: ‘What better way to reflect on the week, than through the razor sharp wit of some of the nation’s most talented stand ups?

‘Stand Up For the Week will be raucous and close to the bone; and all of the elements going into it, the venue, the live audience, the talent, the celebrities, will make it a truly entertaining and alternative Friday night show.’

The show is made by Open Mike – the company behind Live At The Apollo and Michael McIntrye’s Comedy Roadshow – and will be filmed at North London’s Koko venue, the former Camden Palais best known for live music.

Whitehall and Osho have previously featured in the topical Channel 4 late-night comedy show TNT Show and Tonightly, although neither programme really caught the public imagination, while Grover was in the 11 O’Clock Show as his tough-guy character Bulla.
