Bailey stars in new Alpine rom-com

Bill Bailey is to star in a new teenage rom-com film set in the Alps.

He has just finished filming Chalet Girl, about a feisty London teenager who finds herself out of her depth both romantically and among the moneyed social set after she takes up a job on the slopes.

Bailey plays the father of lead character Kim, played by Felicity Jones – a former Archers actress who has just appeared in Ricky Gervais’s Cemetery Junction.

In the movie, which has just completed filing in London and the Bavarian resort of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, she finds she has a natural talent for snowboarding, with which she hopes to impress her boss’s handsome son.

Bailey said of his role: ‘I liked it because it had a bit more emotional weight than the parts I usually get. They usually offer me a yokel or a small-time drug dealer.’

Bill Nighy,, Brooke Shields, Tamsin Egerton and Ed Westwick from Gossip Girl are also in the cast.

Writer Tom Williams has said: ‘I wanted to try to capture some of that excitement of being on top of the mountains. It’s such an amazing feeling, and so different from how most of us spend our daily lives.’
