Lucas sues Daily Star

Action over stories about ex's death

Matt Lucas is suing the Daily Star over stories about the death of his former civil partner Kevin McGee.

The Little Britain star is seeking ‘unlimited’ damages from the paper over a front-page story about McGee’s drug and alcohol problems, and a follow-up story.

He also wants an injunction banning publishers Express Newspapers from repeating the allegations, whether true or not.

According to the UK Press Gazette, Lucas’s High Court writ claims the Star misused private information and wants a ban on them processing any further confidential information.

Lucas is being represented by London law firm Shillings – who disastrously used a super-injunction in their failed bid to keep footballer John Terry’s affairs out of the papers.

The stories appeared in October, when McGee committed suicide in his Edinburgh flat.
