Gone in 600 seconds
Peter Kay’s five tour warm-up shows sold out within ten minutes today.
Tickets for the intimate gigs at Bury's 220-capactiy arts centre The Met went on sale at 10am. But by 10.10am, all of the £15 seats for Febrary 23, 24 and March 6, 11, and 12 had gone.
However, it appears not all the tickets were bought by fans eager to see him. Several are currently being advertised on eBay for up to £165 each.
Proceeds from the original ticket price went to the Haiti appeal – although those selling on tickets are unlikely to be so generous. The eBay seller demanding £165 said ten per cent – or just £16.50 – would go to Haiti.
Met director David Agnew said: 'It is a fantastic boost for us to be trusted by such a successful comedian. We are delighted to be part of sucha milestone.'
Kay also used The Met to warm up for his last tour, Mum Wants A Bungalow, seven years ago.
A total of 750,000 tickets have been sold for his Tour That Doesn't Tour Now On Tour Tour, making it the largest stand-up tour in history.
