Komedia sells its millionth ticket

Milestone for Brighton club

Brighton venue Komedia has sold its 1,000,000th ticket, it announced today.

The club has taken 16 years to achieve the milestone, and has awarded its ‘millionth customer’ a golden ticket granting her free admission for life.

Venue bosses deemed that Emily Owen brought the 1,000,000th ticket when she rang up to book tickets for the regular Krater Comedy Club this Friday.

The first Komedia opened in an 18th century billiard hall in the Kemp Town area of the city in 1994, and four years later moved to its current location.

However, a £1million redevelopment in 2006 put a huge strain on its finances, and the company last year had to hold crisis talks after running up debts of more than £300,000. Creditors agreed terms that enabled the venue to keep operating.
