Twittering leads to sitcom deal

CBS orders new comedy

America’s CBS network has ordered a new sitcom – based on a Twitter feed.

The broadcaster has commissioned a script from Justin Halpern based on his ‘Shit My Dad Says’ posts.

Halpern is a 29-year-old editor for Maxim.com, who has amassed 740,000 followers for his tweets, which chronicle the musings of his 73-year-old father.

One of his latest is: ‘You look just like Stephen Hawking...Relax, I meant like a non-paralyzed version of him. Feel better?... Fine. Forget I said it.’

Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, who previously worked on Will and Grace are executive producing with Halpern co-writing the script, Variety reports.
