Hi-de-Hi!'s Felix dies at 87

Bowness was also top warm-up man

Hi-de-Hi star Felix Bowness has died at the age of 87.

As well as playing ex-jockey Fred Quilly in all 58 episodes of the holiday camp sitcom, Bowness appeared in You Rang, M'Lord? And Oh, Doctor Beeching! also written by Jimmy Perry and David Croft.

He was also an accomplished warm-up man, working on 3,000 programmes such as Terry Wogan's chat show, The Two Ronnies and Morecambe and Wise.

Born in Berkshire, his first TV appearance came in the Benny Hill show in 1965, and early roles included Dad’s Army – where he played a driver in three episodes – the Liver Birds and Sykes, in which he appeared eight times, all as different characters.
