Robert Webb: My stupid, stupid show

Comic blasts his own reality series

Robert Webb has blasted a reality series he works on, saying it’s full of ‘twats having big, stupid rows’.

But he said he took the job narrating BBC Three's Young, Dumb and Living Off Mum because it was easy money.

In the show, lazy, pampered youngsters are forced to stand on their own two feet, but Webb told The Sun: ‘It's a reality show where twats aged 17 to 25 live in a house together and have big, stupid rows, which I narrate.

‘And then, amazingly, the feckless idiot parents get to vote for the least annoying one and whoever is left, by default, wins the show.

‘I did it for the money, of course. When someone asks, “Do you want to do some funny ads for not many days in the year and be paid more than you would be for an entire series of Peep Show?” the answer, obviously, is, “Yeah, that's fine”.

He said he was so ashamed of taking the job he kept it secret from David Mitchell.

But his comedy partner defended the decision, saying: ‘You feel a fool if you don't do voice-overs. It's money for what is essentially reading out.’
