Radio debut for Nathan Barley star

New sitcom set in children's nursery

Nathan Barley star Nicholas Burns is to make his first foray into radio comedy, with a new sitcom set in a children’s nursery.

In Child’s Play, Burns, who also plays Martin Weedon in Benidorm, stays as a disgraced City boy banished to the country to turn a village nursery into a money-making machine, or face the sack.

Peep Show’s Olivia Colman will play his adversary Pen, who formerly ran the nursery, in the show, which has been created by News Quiz writer Lucy Clarke. The producer Simon Nicholls, whose credits include Dave Gorman's Genius and Chris Addison's Lab Rats

A pilot episode will be recorded in front of an audience next week, which will air on Radio 4 on September 29.
