Tim Vine films Neighbours cameo

Tim Vine has filmed a cameo role in Neighbours, playing a dimwitted visitor to Ramsey Street.

The comic recorded his brief role on Monday, when he visited the soap opera’s studios during his day off from working at the Melbourne Comedy Festival.

The 42-year-old told the city’s Herald Sun newspaper that appearing in the programme was ‘a dream come true’.

He added: ‘Mum and Dad are absolutely huge fans of the show, so I'm hoping they'll just be watching it one day and I'll suddenly pop up. They'll fall forwards off their armchairs if they see me on it.

‘The character I'm playing is clearly not very intelligent. They made me stand under this huge Lassiter's sign and then I had to get up and ask for directions to the hotel.’

Two years ago, Matt Lucas and Dave Walliams appeared in the background of one Neighbours scene as Lou and Andy:
