Record audience for Red Dwarf revival

The return of Red Dwarf attracted a record audience of 2.4 million to digital channel Dave n Good Friday.

The show attracted 2.1 million viewers at 9pm – 11 per cent of the total audience – with an extra 341,000 tuning in an hour later in the Dave Ja Vu channel.

The main figure are nine times the average Dave usually attracts in that slot, and beat both BBC2 and Five’s offerings.

Dave says it was the largest ever audience for a UK commission shown on non-terrestrial TV.

The following two episodes of the new mini-series, shown on Easter Saturday and Sunday, attracted 1.6 million and 1.2 million viewers respectively.
