Mr Loophole gets Jimmy off the hook

Jimmy Carr has got off a speeding charge thanks to the celebrity solicitor nicknamed Mr Loophole.

A camera allegedly caught the 36-year-old comic driving his Bentley at 43mph in a 30mph stretch of the A40 in West London in June.

But when he attended Feltham Magistrates' Court he found the case had been moved to another date without his knowledge.

Carr’s solicitor, Nick Freeman, argued the move was unlawful and the Crown Prosecution Service withdrew the charge.

The comic is just the latest celebrity client Freeman has helped get off the hook on legal technicalities. He has previously represented Jeremy Clarkson, Lee Bowyer and Wayne Rooney, among many others.

He said today: ‘The court unlawfully changed the date without notifying either my client or me.

‘My client is naturally delighted with the outcome and costs were also awarded in his favour.’
