C4 closes its comedy website

4Laughs shuts amid budget crisis

Channel 4 is closing its dedicated comedy website 4Laughs.

The broadcaster, which faces a £150million black hole in its finances, has pulled the plug on the microsite after three years.

The site offered news and readers’ reviews, as well as showcasing submitted clips and sketches.

Channel 4 says it is closing the site from tomorrow ‘to focus more on programme support across the board’.

Site editor Fay James said 4Laughs had become a ‘unique comedy experience’ and thanked the readers and contributors who ‘made the site what it is’.
