QI moves to BBC1

Sixth series to switch channels

QI is to move from BBC Two to BBC One when it returns for its sixth series in the New Year.

The last series attracted up to 4.8 million viewers to BBC Two, making it one of the channel’s top-rated shows.

BBC One controller Jay Hunt said: ‘QI is a fantastic addition to BBC One. I am delighted that a show which has proved its popularity on BBC Two will now feature in our schedule, allowing even more people to enjoy its unique blend of wit and obscure trivia.’

While BBC Two boss Roly Keating said: ‘QI is… the most successful new comedy quiz of recent years, so it's quite right and proper that we send it on its way to BBC One after five fantastic years.’

Host Stephen Fry and regular panellist Alan Davies will both return for the new series.
