Russell Brand to face a US court this year

Another hearing on top of UK trial

Russell Brand will face a jury in the US later this year.

The former comedian is listed to appear in front of justice Adam Silvera  at New York Supreme Court on December 15, some months after his British trial has concluded.

There he will face allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman while filming the 2011 movie Arthur and exposed himself to her in front of the cast and crew.

Brand, 50, denies the allegations made by the plaintiff, listed only as the anonymous Jane Doe in court papers.

He is a co-defendant with the film’s producers, including Warner Bros,  with the woman requesting a jury trial.

The civil case has brought under the Adult Survivors Act – a 2022 New York state law which opened a one-year window for people to bring historic abuse cases that would otherwise have been deemed to old under America’s statue of limitations.

Brand appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London last week over two new offences of raping one woman and sexually assaulting another in 2009. He was not asked to enter pleas at that hearing.

He was previously been charged with two counts of rape, one count of indecent assault and two counts of sexual assault against four women between 1999 and 2005. He denies all those charges, which will be heard at a trial in London in June.

No court date has been set for the additional allegations.
