Comics' photos raise cash for charity

Comics including Jack Dee, Jimmy Carr, Russell Brand and Ricky Gervais are taking part in a two-year photography project set to raise tens of thousands of pounds for charity.

Signed limited-edition prints of each of the comedians are to be sold off to raise money for London’s Trinity Hospice.

Portrait photographer Rich Hardcastle will create 50 copies of each image, 32 inches square, to which each celebrity will adds a personal message and their signature.

Dee, Carr and Gervais are in the first batch to be released, alongside Paul Merton & Ian Hislop, and Barry Humphries.

Carr’s quote is: ‘You live & learn, then you die & forget it all!’, while Dee’s pictures contain the line: ‘Is it me or are you slightly out of focus?’

The pictures will sell for between £400 and £500, and other stars will join the Larger Than Life project over thee next two years.  Martin Freeman and Matt Lucas have already signed up.

Hardcastle said: 'I'm really pleased to be able to contribute towards such a worthwhile cause.’

Alba Lewis, director of fundraising at Trinity, added: ‘In effect, and laughter is being used to fund a better way of dying.  It is fantastic that so many famous people are supporting Trinity.'

The prints can be viewed online here, and at 39 Earlham Street, Seven Dials, Covent Garden, London, until Saturday.
