Noel Gallagher, comedy writer?

Oasis star plans sitcom with Russell Brand

Noel Gallagher says he wants to write a sitcom with Russell Brand once he retires from Oasis.

The guitarist told The Sun: ‘ I’d like to be part of a team of scriptwriters. I think I’d be good.

‘Russell has been trying to rope me into something but at the moment I can’t commit to anything outside Oasis. But one day - who knows?’

It wouldn’t be Gallagher’s first contribution to comedy, as he wrote the theme tune to the Royle Family.

And he frequently banters with Brand on the comedian’s Radio 2 show.

Brand also said that he’s basing his next movie performance on Gallagher; when he reprises his Forgetting Sarah Marshall role as rocker Aldous Snow.

He said: ‘In Get Him To The Greek, Aldous is now back on drugs. With him being awful rather than clean I can use my friendships with British rock stars more successfully.

‘Noel Gallagher will be a much better resource.’
