Colbert Report comes to UK

FX buys satire show

Cable channel FX has bought the rights to air American satirical news show The Colbert Report in Britain.

The acclaimed programme is a spin-off from The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, which airs on More4 in the UK. Both are shown on Comedy Central in the States.

Emmy-winning host Stephen Colbert was previously a correspondent on The Daily Show, before landing his own series n 2005. In 2006, he ‘roasted’ President Bush at the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner.

FX will show The Colbert Report on Tuesdays to Fridays at 11pm, from May 6.

FX is owned by Fox, whose right-wing 24-hour news channel in the US is a frequent target for Colbert.
