Schneider plans estate agent sitcom
David Schneider is working on a Radio 4 sitcom set in an estate agency.The BBC has ordered two pilot scripts for Gazumped, but producers are hoping for a full series commission to follow.
Schneider, best known for his work alongside Chris Morris on The Day Today, will play a ‘sympathetic’ estate agent called Danny Berg.
Producer Simon Jacobs told actors’ newspaper The Stage: ‘He can’t just say a property is conveniently placed to local amenities if those amenities are a sewage farm and a halfway house for drug offenders. He is no good at selling houses. ’
He added that the show ‘ is set in and around the estate agents in which he works and it is all about his world’.
The show, which will be Schneider’s first starring role in a radio sitcom, is being made by independent production company Unique.
