Free Agents set for series

C4 poised to commission Mangan sitcom

Channel 4 is poised to order a full series of the Stephen Mangan and Sharon Horgan sitcom Free Agents.

A pilot was aired in the Comedy Showcase season of one-off shows in November, and now Mangan says a full run will begin filming in the summer.

The Green Wing actor starred as a theatrical agent going through a painful divorce, who was awkwardly trying to embark on a relationship with a colleague who was a widow at 30.

Anthony Head also appeared in the pilot as the ‘sex-obsessed, cocksure and roguish’ boss.

The full series, written by Chris Niel, is being made by Bwark Productions, the company behind Horgan’s channel Five sitcom Angelo’s, actors newspaper The Stage reports.

Channel 4 said plans for a full series of Free Agents were currently in the pipeline, but added that nothing had been confirmed.
