Sick Rik misses more shows

Viral infection floors Mayall

Rik Mayall has pulled out of more dates on his New Statesman tour because of ill health.

He is expected to miss all the shows at Richmond Theatre this week, and next week’s run at the Milton Keynes Theatre is also in doubt.

Box office staff have been telling fans Mayall has a viral infection, and that he will return as soon as his health will allow – but cannot say when this will be.

The 49-year comic failed to appear at Bromley last week, and Aberdeen the week before.

Mayall has been dogged by health problems throughout this tour, in which his ruthless Alan B’Stard MP has crossed the House to become a Labour politician.

In May, he missed dates in Nottingham, Malvern and Leicester. And in January, he collapsed during a West End performance of the show, slumping to the floor five minutes from the end.
