What a turn-off...

Russell's ratings malaise

Russell Brand may be all over the tabloids, but his new E4 show has failed to pull in the viewers.

Just 156,000 people tuned in to see the first episode of his discussion show Russell Brand's Got Issues on the digital channel last night.

That’s just over half the 299,000 viewers E4 normally attracts in that timeslot – and comes despite heavy on-air promotion and an expensive poster campaign.

The overnight figure, which represents 1.33 per cent of the total audience, compares unfavourably with the 243,000 who watched an episode of hospital sitcom Scrubs in the same slot last week.

BBC3's comedy sketch show Little Miss Jocelyn, which was on at the same time as Brand, was seen by 259,000  people last night.
