Izzard to play villainous sidekick

Eddie Izzard is to join the cast of 24.

The comic will play Darren McCarthy, described by producers as ‘a villainous accomplice’ in the sixth season of the hit thriller.

The series will air from January in the US, picking up the storyline 20 months from the end of the fifth series.

Also joining the cast is Babe star James Cromwell, playing Jack Bauer's estranged father, Phillip.

The news comes days after it was confirmed that America's FX channel had picked up Izzard's comedy-drama about a family of fraudsters, The Riches, for a 13-part series

REMOTE COMEDY FROM THE PADDOCK

It's the sort of content comedians have been pumping out from their spare rooms since lockdown began, now being given a wider audience (and hopefully some £££s) thanks to E4, which commissioned this compilation series.

Four episodes will air online at 9pm Tuesday nights, starting with this one, which features Stath Lets Flats star Jamie Demetriou, Lolly Adefope, Rosie Jones, and Australian award-winner Sam Campbell
