The finalists in this year’s Funny Women hunt for the best new female stand-ups have been announced.

They are: Bridget Christie, Roisin Conaty, Anna Crilly, Lindzi Germain, Susan Hanks, Sarah Ledger, sketch duo Live! At The Mausoleum, Zoe Lyons, double act Millie & Tillie and Janice Phayre.

The women will now compete for the £2,000 top prize at the final in London’s Comedy Store on July 12.

A spokesman for the contest, which is backed by Babycham, said: “The competition was very strong this year in both talent and numbers.

“More than 100 women were seen in nine showcases all over the country, representing a 33 per cent increase in contestants from last year.”

Judges at the final, to be hosted by Jo Caulfield (pictured) include comic Linda Smith, TV presenter-turned-director Toni Arthur-Hay, agent Melanie Coupland and Chortle’s Steve Bennett.

Two runners up will each receive £500. For tickets to the final, click here.
