Crook axes tour for Shakespeare role

Mackenzie Crook has cancelled his UK tour after landing a part in a major new movie.

The Office star had been due to perform a string of live dates as his schoolteacher character Mr Bagshaw.

However, it has today been announced that he is to play Lancelot Gobo in a new version of The Merchant of Venice.

Al Pacino is to star as Shylock, while Sir Ian McKellen and Joseph Fiennes also have roles.

No release date is yet slated for the film, directed by Michael Radford.
