Moving up a League

Gentlemen's movie comes a step closer

The League Of Gentlemen movie has come a step closer, now the team has completed their a draft script.

Mark Gatiss, Reece Sheersmith, Steve Pemberton and Jeremy Dyson are now seeking a producer to make their big-screen debut a reality.

However, they say they are not willing to surrender control of the project to anyone else.

Gatiss told Teletext: "We've got a draft now that we're very happy with and we've drawn up a list of film companies that we want to talk to.

"It's just a question now of whose money we take. We want total control.

"The last series was like a stepping stone, but it's a totally different business. It's so terrifying because there's so much more at stake."

They hope to start production in the new year, so the film can be released in 2005

Pemberton said: "It will be set in Royston Vasey but it won't be what people expect.

"With a film there's obviously scope for a lot more special effects. It's all very ambitious."

A fourth BBC2 series is also in the pipeline.
