Pony trio go into movie

Comics in £4m Gladiator spoof

The Smack The Pony team have begun shooting their first movie.

Sally Phillips, Doon Mackichan and Fiona Allen started work on Gladiatress last week.

The £4million spoof casts the trio as Celtic sisters fighting against the Roman occupation of Britain in 55 BC.

The film is the first from new British production Mission Pictures, Variety reports.

Others in the pipeline include Seventh Heaven, a $15 million romantic comedy set in 19th century Cornwall, an adaptation of the P. G. Wodehouse novel Piccadilly Jim and the screen version of Jenny Colgan's novel Looking for Andrew McCarthy.
