Elton pens a second Queen musical

Ben Elton has started work on another Queen musical.

The former stand-up has begun writing a sequel to We Will Rock You.

The West End show has been a hit, even though it was roundly slated by critics for being "vacuous' and 'trite'.

Queen guitarist Brian May says Elton is already halfway through the follow-up, which could run in London while the original is still playing.

He told trade newspaper The Stage: "There are lots of songs that haven't been used yet, so we have a lot of material to work with."

The name of the new musical has not been revealed.
