Linehan to direct comedy short

Father Ted creator Graham Linehan is to direct his first short film.

Hello Friend is one of four projects to receive Film Council backing under a scheme to encourage more short comedy projects.

Filming on the movie, about a destructive piece of computer software, began this week.

The other four films are Early Days, which stars Keith Allen and Ronni Ancona, Post which stars Eddie Marsan, and Harold The Amazing Contortionist Pig.

They will be made by Elizabeth Murdoch's Shine and FilmFour Lab.
