Vegas stars in Radio 4 comedy

Johnny Vegas is to star in a new radio comedy series, which he has also co-written.

His show, Night Class, launches on Radio 4 at 6.30pm on August 27.

The comedy is based on his stand-up persona, and tells of a Butlin's Redcoat who mysteriously reappears in his hometown and reluctantly forced to teach pottery to a group of sad and hopeless night-class students.

BBC chiefs are billing the programme as " dark and painful comedy about loss, failure, alcoholism, loathing, desperation, loneliness and other humorous subjects".

Co-stars include Rebecca Front, from Time Gentleman Please and Knowing Me, Knowing You.
