Comic weds after whirlwind romance

Johnny Vegas has married girlfriend Catherine Donnelly in San Francisco.

He wed the Essex interior designer in front of a few friends in a low-key register office service.

Even Johnny's parents were not there, and he had to phone them back home in St Helens after the ceremony.

Johnny, 31, and Kitty, 26, will spend the next week touring the States as their honeymoon,

They plan another ceremony for family and friends after they return to.

Johnny's mum Pat told the Sunday Mirror: "We are all thrilled. He called me on Friday night straight after he'd got married. He was very excited when I spoke to him on the phone.

"I know Catherine wore a suit and he had one too. You don't often see him in a suit. I think it was very 70s. He was also wearing a trilby.

"They did it in America because Johnny has friends in San Francisco It's been a whirlwind romance but Catherine is a lovely girl, nice and friendly I am sure she is the right girl for him."
