BBC launches talent hunt

For sitcom writers and sketch actors

The BBC has launched a hunt for new sitcom writers and sketch performers.

Winners of the talent search will each receive £1,000 - plus a mentor to help develop their ideas.

Writers, who should have some experience, but not of a broadcast sitcom, need to send in a script outline, CV and two completed scenes.

Meanwhile, 'streetwise' and 'urban' sketch performers should turn up at auditions being held across the country in August.

Performers do not have to prepare their own material - though they can if they want - as the auditions will involve improvisation and script reading.

The 30 best candidates will be invited to a final workshop - from which the final team will be selected to develop a sketch show pilot for the BBC.

Deadline for entries is May 31.
