Billy's folk tribute

Connolly records track to honour banjo player

Billy Connolly has recorded a tribute to American folk singer Derroll Adams.

The comic has contributed a track to a new album honouring his fellow banjo player, who died last year at the age of 74.

Adams was a star of the European folk club circuit, where Connolly started his career, and counted Bob Dylan, Joan Baez and Donovan among his fans.

A statement on Connolly's website says: "Derroll Adams was a significant influence for Billy in his folk singing days and he was proud to be asked to participate in this tribute album."

The CD will be released later in the year.
