C4 talent hunt launched

So You Think You're Funny?

Applications have opened for this year's stand-up talent hunt So You Think You're Funny?

The competition, backed by Channel 4, has been running since 1988, and boasts Dylan Moran, Peter Kay and Rhona Cameron among its previous winners. (Full list)

Last year's winner Miles Jupp has already become a regular on Scottish TV, appearing in The Live Floor Show.

Its finals take place in the Gilded Balloon during the Edinburgh Fringe, and it is the longest established of all the festival's stand-up competitions.

More than 60 comedy newcomers battle it out over a series of seven Edinburgh heats to win a place in the final.

But to even get to this stage hundreds of hopefuls showcase their talents at comedy clubs across Britain and Ireland, starting in mid May.

Click here for a downloadable application form (in PDF format), or online at the Gilded Balloon website.

Applicants must not have performed regularly - either paid or unpaid - before September 1, 2001.
