Star denies saying show will end

Friends star David Schwimmer has denied telling reporters that the US sitcom is coming to an end.

British newspapers reported that the next series, the ninth, would be the last following statements he supposedly made during interviews in France.

However, his publicist has denied the claims. In a statement to the BBC, his PR company said: "Mr Schwimmer never made the statement or implied it in any of his interviews while promoting the upcoming mini-series Band of Brothers."

But the denial is unlikely to quell speculation about the future of the series, which is not the 'must-see' show it was at its peak.

Yet wage bills have soared, with each star actor now earning $1million an episode.
Filming of the ninth series starts later this summer
