Emergency Question: Which is your favourite ghost, real or (let's face it) fictional?

Edinburgh Fringe comedians answer

Every day until the end of the Fringe, we're asking one of Richard Herring's Emergency Questions from the RHLSTP podcast to comedians. Here's today's batch of insights... RHLSTP is also at the Assembly Rooms at 13:00 until tomorrow. Tickets.

The Tupac Hologram   Emo Majok whose show African Aussie is on at Underbelly at 8:30pm

The spirit of Derek Acorah for the irony.  David Ephgrave whose show Good Grief - Edinburgh Fringe 2022 at Chortle.co.uk">David Ephgrave: Good Grief is on at Just the Tonic at the Caves at 2:40pm

Michael Staniforth playing Timothy Claypole is the best ghost I've ever seen. Shits all over Patrick Swayze.   Justin Moorhouse whose show Stretch & Think is on at Gilded Balloon at 7:30pm

The ones in Pac Man seem alright. I resent having to catch them.  Sean McLoughlin whose show So Be It is on at Pleasance Courtyard at 7:55pm

The lady at the beginning of Ghostbusters who just wants everyone to shut up and go away so she can read her book. I've always related to her. Garrett Millerick whose show Just Trying to Help  is on at Monkey Barrel at 11:25pm

Morecambe and Wise tend to visit us, telling us to stop ripping off their material… we shall not.   Griffin and Jones whose show Griffin and Jones: Idiot Magicians  is on at The Voodoo Rooms at 6:15pm

I don't believe in ghosts, and I don't believe in playing favourites. But probably Lolly AdefopeLeo Reich whose show Literally Who Cares?!  is on at Pleasance Courtyard at 9:35pm

The ghost of the controversial comedian Jean-Jacques LeFebvre was said to haunt the Théatre Briquefontaine in Limoges, passing through actors to make them shit themselves while on stage. Certainly there was an unnaturally high occurrence of this during the theatre's existence, before it was closed for hygiene reasons. It is also likely this was a self-fulfilling myth, with the actors in question becoming unbearably nervous at the fate that might await them that night. The bizarre part is that LeFebvre had never even visited that theatre when alive.  Marcel Lucont whose show Marcel Lucont Etc. - A Chat Show is on at Just The Tonic at 6:30pm

Stinky from Casper, even though he smelt he was kind of hot.  Eli Matthewson whose show Daddy Short-Legs is on at Underbelly George Square at 8:50pm

It's got to be Banquo. If I were a ghost, I'd always return at meal times Tom Skelton whose show 2020 Visions (What if I hadn't gone blind?) is on at Underbelly at 7:15pm

My favourite ghost is the ghost of my youth. I sometimes see her smugly gliding behind me when I look in the bathroom mirror on day 2 of a hangover. She laughs as she swoops by, whispering something about how 'she never even gets hangovers.' I hate her.   Lauren Pattison whose show It Is What It Is is on at Monkey Barrel at 12:30pm

Casper – decent bloke just trying to do the right thing.  Crizards whose show Cowboys is on at Assembly at 10:15pm

Ghost of Christmas Present is, BY FAR, the best ghost. It’s just a dude going ‘Christmas is right now’. What competition does that guy even have? Casper? Get the fuck outta here.  Brian McElhaney whose show BriTANicK is on at Assembly at 7:45pm

I like all of the ghosts in New York to be honest. Though I feel like they’re probably frustrated because nobody is scared of them here. We have real things to worry about. The ghosts in my apartment tend to act up when I’m doing something annoying like singing or watching Real Housewives. But I like them.  Marcia Belsky whose show Man & Woman is on at Assembly at 6:15pm

I encountered a ghost in the back of a bar called Martuni's in San Francisco and it felt like a benign presence. I later found out that bar used to be a morgue. More ghosts should let their grievances go.   Dalia Malek whose show Another Castle is on at Just the Tonic at 3:15pm

Dinosaur ghosts.  Tony Law  whose show Tony Law A Now Begin in Again is on at Monkey Barrel  at 12:00am

Celebrity atheist Christopher Hitchens, who is still refusing to admit he exists. Tom Little whose show Tom Little Has Good Reviews So Prepare to Be Impressed is on at Subway at 3:45pm

My favourite ghost is this one girl who is not replying to me at the moment. She's my favorite because she is REALLY committing to this ghost thing. Schalk Bezuidenhout whose show I'll Make Laugh To You (Like You Want Me To) is on at Gilded Balloon at 7:40pm

Bruce Willis. It's because he tells really inappropriate jokes. He's got a Sixth Sense of humour. (Sorry if I've spoiled the film but let's face it, it is over 20 years old now)  Iain MacDonald whose show Pundemic is on at Three Sisters at 10:45am
