Emergency Question: What is your favourite cheese?

Edinburgh Fringe comedians answer

Every day until the end of the Fringe, we're asking one of Richard Herring's Emergency Questions from the RHLSTP podcast to comedians. Here's today's batch of insights...

Welsh goat's cheese with peppercorns. Preferably eaten in the dark in a Travelodge. Sean McLoughlin whose show So Be It is on at Pleasance Courtyard at 7:55pm

This week, Mont D'Or. It really can live on In The Mouth and the mind for some time and in the summer months really lets you know it is there. This cheese doesn't piss about. It gets right into the nostrils and into your soul. Marcel Lucont whose show Marcel Lucont Etc. - A Chat Show is on at Just The Tonic at 6:30pm

The yellow one all the burger joints use. Emo Majok whose show African Aussie is on at Underbelly at 8:30pm

The Star Wars bounty hunter one. Boba Feta. Iain MacDonald whose show Pundemic is on at Three Sisters at 10:45am

The cheese that forms under your bed every night. That's bed cheese. That's the best cheese.  The Awkward Silence whose show The Awkward Silence's Big Break is on at Gilded Balloon at 2:20pm

Any hard cheese. Soft cheese can go fuck itself. Jay Bennett whose show Yasmine Day: Songs in the Key of Me is on at Voodoo Rooms at 7:40pm

The awkward one we have to say just before a photo. Brennan Reece whose show Crowded is on at Pleasance Courtyard at 8:20pm

My tiny hometown of Tillamook, Oregon is famous for its cheese in the US, so I’m taking this opportunity to plug it. Tillamook cheese forever! Although Tillamook cheese is technically not my favourite cheese (don’t tell anyone) it is the cheese I have the deepest connection with. It’s like a first love: it will always have a place in my heart, but also, now I’ve been to France. Lanessa Long whose show The Lanessa Show is on at Just The Tonic at The Caves at 10:50am

80s disco hits.   Luke Rollason whose show Bowerbird is on at Monkey Barrel at 12:30pm

Like our comedy we like our cheese stinky, blue and aged.  Norris & Parker whose show Sirens is on at Monkey Barrel at 9:15pm

Lancashire Bomb. It’s super strong, very creamy, and is shaped like an ACME bomb. Serve it with Chilli Jam for a really great combo.Chris Turner whose show Rap God is on at Pleasance Dome at 8:10pm

It's all amazing and the whole purpose of it is to have some variety, so this question is offensive.  Eli Matthewson whose show Daddy Short-Legs is on at Underbelly George Square at 8:50pm

I've literally just come from quite a heated conversation about Comté. I don't think I can prècis the full argument, but it is the most perfect, delicate cheese. French infrastructure, with their state-mandated boulangeries in every village, means that it's the perfect environment for cheese to flourish. And Richard can fuck off with his stupid fucking Manchego.  Christian Brighty whose show Christian Brighty: Playboy is on at Pleasance Courtyard at 9:40pm

I'm a vegan. I know. Philadelphia have just bought out a vegan cheese. It's lovely. It's not cheese though as angry cheese lovers will tell you.  Justin Moorhouse whose show Stretch & Think is on at Gilded Balloon at 7:30pm

I had an aged gouda from The Netherlands for the first time a few years ago, and that evolved me from basic gay to cheese-and-wine gay. Sam See whose show Sam See: Government Approved Sex is on at Laughing Horse @ Counting House, The Attic at 7:30pm

I am all about Field Roast's Chao. There's also an artisanal vegan cheese shop in NYC called Riverdel, I'm a huge fan of their nut cheeses.  Rebecca Kaplan whose show Arielle Dundas and Rebecca Kaplan: Parfait is on at Laughing Horse @ City Cafe at 12:05am

How Dare You Ask Me This. Vile. Cheese Is Vile.  Tom DeTrinis whose show I Hate New York is on at Assembly at 6:20pm

Gorgonzola. It's incredible and frankly a gateway blue cheese. There is a town in Italy called Gorgonzola and all I want to do is go there and go to a shop and raise my eyebrows and ask if they know any good cheeses.  Patrick Spicer whose show Who’s This All of a Sudden is on at Gilded Balloon at 6:20pm

Goat, because a cheese should taste angry and full of spite.  Kylie Brakeman whose show Linda Hollywood's Big Hollywood Night is on at Gilded Balloon at 7:00pm
