Paul Merton to become a train driver

...for a new Channel 4 series

Paul Merton is to go inside the driver’s cab of some of the world’s most famous trains in a six-part series for Channel 4.  

The comic will go to Germany, France, Switzerland, Wales, northern England and the Isle of Wight for the series, entitled Paul Merton: Driving Amazing Trains.

Merton is a train enthusiast whose father was a London Underground driver.

The series will look at the engineering feats behind the routes, feature conversations with engineers, Conductor and passengers, and reflect on his dad’s career. 

The Have I Got News For Your captain previously hosted Paul Merton's Secret Stations  for  Channel 4 in 2016 (pictured above)  as well as two series for 5 about motorhoming with his wife Suki Webster.
