Sky orders shorts from up-and-coming comics

To be introduced by Romesh Ranganathan

Sky has commissioned a series of ten comedy shorts in which Romesh Ranganathan will introduce some of Britain’s best up-and-coming comedians.

Those taking part in Romesh Presents… are

  1.   Ellie Taylor
  2.   Nigel Ng
  3.   Austentatious stars Rachel Parris, Cariad Lloyd and Graham Dickson
  4.   Amelia Dimoldenberg of the hit YouTube channel Chicken Shop Date
  5.   Kiri Pritchard-McLean
  6.   Rosie Jones
  7.   Darren Harriott
  8.   Luke McQueen
  9.   London Hughes
  10.   Colin Hoult as his outrageous actress character Anna Mann

Each 15-minute short will be tailored to the individual comedian, with formats including a studio clip show and a comedic documentary. The shorts will be available on demand, rather than broadcast, but under the Sky One banner.

They are being made by Ranga Bee, the production company  Ranganathan runs with director Benjamin Green, along with CPL Productions – which makes League Of Their Own. The two companies also made the second series of  Ranganathan’s Sky One sitcom the Reluctant Landlord.

In a statement, Ranganathan and Green said: ‘We are delighted that Sky is trusting us to work with some of the most exciting comics in the UK. We will do our best to not end their promising careers.’

Phil Edgar-Jones, Sky’s head of entertainment, added: ‘Romesh Ranganathan is at the very forefront of comedy in the UK and we are delighted he’s curating this series of short-form shows for us – all showcasing some of the best comic talent in the UK. Bite-sized treats for everyone to enjoy.’

The shorts are expected to be available this autumn.
