Lewis Black to retire from touring

US comic, 75, has been performing up to 200 shows a year

American comedian Lewis Black is to retire from touring.

The 75-year-old – who has also been a regular on The Daily Show in all of its 28 seasons – says his last dates will be at the end of next year.

Black broke the news on his Rantcast podcast, and also posted the relevant clip on Instagram.

He said: ‘I’ve said this to people and it doesn’t seem to get through to them. "What do you mean you’re retiring?" Listen to the end of the sentence: I am retiring from touring.

‘Really. I’m not making this up, I’m not going to come back and tour again. I'm going through to the end of December next year.’

‘Will I continue to perform? Yes, but I will literally perform from time to time.’

In the caption on social media, he added: ‘If you want to see me on the road, you better hurry. Final tour dates coming soon.’
