John Tothill, Lena Dunham, Blake Harrison and Amelia Dimoldenberg join cast

Comic John Tothill,  Girls creator  Lena Dunham,  Inbetweeners star Blake Harrison and web comedian Amelia Dimoldenberg have all joined the cast of Leo Reich’s Channel 4 comedy It Gets Worse.

Firming on the six-part series – which  follows three London friends facing an uncertain future after they are evicted from their shared house  –  has started in London

The ensemble cast includes Andrew Scott, Emily Fairn, known for House of Guinness; Olive Gray from Save Me; Sean Delaney from Killing Eve; and India Mullen, who appeared in Normal People.

It Gets Worse centres on characters with ‘humiliating jobs’ and ‘non-existent love lives’ who question whether their circumstances will improve after they are kicked out of their accommodation.

Details of what roles the new cast members will take have not been released.

Reich previously worked with Dunham on the Netflix series Too Much, which she created.

The 30-minute episodes were commissioned from hip production house A24 by Charlie Perkins, Channel 4's head of comedy. The series will air on Channel 4 next year, though an exact transmission date has not been announced. In Canada, the show will stream on Crave.

The production is directed by Mounia Akl, whose previous work includes House of Guinness, and will be overseen by Sam Pinnell, producer of Trying and Derry Girls.
