Black Ops lands a third series

Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun are back working for MI5

Black Ops will return for a third series, it was announced at the BBC comedy festival in Liverpool today.

Gbemisola Ikumelo and Hammed Animashaun – now part of the Saturday Night Live UK cast – will be back as  Dom and Kay, being given their first undercover mission by MI5.

Their mission will be to uncover the identities of a secretive far-right terror group via a shady museum director selling off artefacts to fund them.

Ikumelo, who co-created the comedy, said: ‘We’re back again and I’m so excited to step back into Dom’s shoes for series three and to share what shenanigans she gets up to.

‘It’s such a gift to be creating the third iteration of this show, as we are all a well-oiled team of creatives now, who genuinely love and respect these characters and the world of Black Ops. We can’t wait to get started.’

Her co-creator Akemnji Ndifornyen added: ‘Three is the magic number, apparently, so we’re happy to bring the show back for a third run! From community support officers to MI5, whatever could be next for Dom and Kay? Two things are for sure though, it’s going to be a chaotic ride full of well-meaning blunders and, of course, Tevin will be keeping watch!"

Jon Petrie, BBC director of comedy said the show was 'sharp, fearless, and exactly the kind of comedy we’re proud to back on the BBC’.

The six-part series will be filmed in Manchester and the North West.
