Helen Bauer

Helen Bauer, started making comedy sketches in London and Berlin, when she lived there, and came to prominence as a finalist in the 2018 BBC New Comedy Award.

Her debut show, Little Miss Baby Angel Face, was nominated for best newcomer in the 2019 Dave's Edinburgh Comedy Award.

She made her debut on Live At The Apollo in 2021.

Brits among Montreal comedy festival's prestigious New Face line-up

British stand-ups Red Richardson and Helen Bauer have made the cut for the prestigious New Faces showcases at Montreal’s Just For Laughs comedy festival.

The gigs have traditionally only featured comedians based in North America and have helped propel Kevin Hart, Amy Schumer, Ali Wong, Jo Koy, and Kumail Nanjiani to prominence.

Last year, the festival expanded the brief to include Brits Aurie Styla, Chloe Petts, Dan Tiernan and Vittorio Angelone; the Dutch-based Mexican-American Lara Ricote, Australia’s Dan Rath and London-based American Chloe Radcliffe.

The newly announced class of 2026 also includes Australian Elouise Eftos, ahead of her return to the Edinburgh Fringe next month, and German-American Mario Adrion

Nick Brazao, vice-president of programming and talent at the festival, said: ‘Each year, New Faces introduces audiences to the next generation of brilliant comedy talent from around the globe, and 2026 is no exception.

‘This year’s performers are sharp, original and hilarious. We’re proud to offer them this platform to show audiences how bright the future of comedy is.'

Just for Laugh’s New Faces showcases are taking place as part of the festival’s ComedyPRO programming between Wednesday and Saturday.

Meanwhile, Daniel Sloss and Joanne McNally have been confirmed to play the New York Comedy Festival in November
